IB Middle Years Programme

Since the last academic year, Finland Oman School has proudly implemented the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). This globally recognized framework provides a balanced, inquiry-based education that develops students’ academic skills, personal growth, and global understanding. Our MYP curriculum is designed to meet the needs of both local and international students, offering a rich bilingual experience while preparing them for future studies and careers.

Subjects Offered In MYP

Language & Literature

English and Arabic Students develop advanced reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills in both languages, enhancing their critical thinking and communication abilities.

Language Aquisition

German and Arabic for Beginners (for expats and students who are exempt from Arabic) Students gain proficiency in an additional language, expanding their cultural awareness and preparing them to be global citizens.

Physical and Health Education & Swimming

Our PHE program emphasizes physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices. Swimming lessons are included to ensure students build confidence and lifelong water safety skills.

Library Sessions

Library Sessions Regular library classes cultivate independent reading habits, research skills, and academic honesty. Students also learn how to cite sources correctly, fostering strong research and referencing practices.

Individuals & Societies

Through history, geography, and social sciences, students develop an understanding of human society, cultures, and global issues, while sharpening their research and inquiry skills.

Arabic Social Studies

Students explore Oman’s rich history, geography, and cultural heritage through Arabic, reinforcing both national identity and critical analysis skills.

Arts

Visual Arts, Music, and Drama Students explore creativity through multiple artistic forms, building confidence, innovation, and self-expression.

Design

Hands-on projects in product, digital, and creative design nurture problem-solving, innovation, and technological skills. Inaddition to robotics and use of 3D printer.

Math

Students delve into problem-solving and critical thinking, discovering the beauty of numbers and patterns. They learn to apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations, enhancing their analytical skills and fostering a deeper understanding of the world around them

Science

Students investigate the natural world, conduct experiments and exploring scientific principles that explain how things work. Through inquiry-based learning, they develop a curiosity about their environment, encouraging innovative thinking and practical applications of scientific knowledge

Interdisciplinary Units

Subjects are interconnected through projects that encourage students to make real-world connections, think critically, and apply knowledge across disciplines.

Community Service

Students engage in meaningful projects that build empathy, leadership, and responsibility towards society. Support Lessons Additional support is provided for students with academic needs, ensuring that every learner receives personalized attention to succeed

MYP Personal Project

Expanding to MYP 5 in the 2026–2027 academic year, we will extend our IB Programme to include MYP 5 (Grade 10). 

This final year of the MYP features the Personal Project, an independent research-based project where students showcase their passions, creativity, and skills. At this stage, students also begin to choose subjects aligned with their future university majors and career paths, providing a strong foundation for their next steps. Pathway Beyond MYP After completing MYP 5, students at Finland Oman School transition smoothly into our Bilingual System for Grades 11 and 12, where they select from different subject streams supported by career guidance. Our graduates consistently achieve outstanding academic results—up to 99.4%, and many receive prestigious scholarships both nationally and internationally, including opportunities in Scotland and China. 

Furthermore, Finland Oman School graduates secure seats at GUTech with a 50% tuition discount, giving them a significant advantage for higher education.
